OakSerp's business management consultant work in Muncie covers one job: setting up how you get paid. If customers pay you through Zelle, Cash App, PayPal, or a check in the mail, and you're losing track of who paid for what, call (765) 351-1469. OakSerp sets up payment links and invoices with your business name on them, so customers pay by card in a tap and you get your money faster.

Messy payments cost you more than fees. They cost you follow-up texts, awkward reminders, and sometimes the money itself.

Payment & Invoicing Setup Muncie

OakSerp sets up a payment tool like Stripe in your business's name, connects it to your bank, and gets your invoices and payment links ready to send. You text a customer a link when the job is done. They tap it, pay by card, and get a receipt with your business name on it. You see who paid for which job. The full rundown, including what card fees look like, is on payment and invoicing setup.

What's wrong with Zelle, Cash App, and PayPal?

Nothing, for paying a friend back. For a business, they're slow and clunky. The customer asks for your number or your $tag. They type it in. You confirm it's right. They send it. Then you wait and check your app to see if it came through. If they typed it wrong, you go back and forth again. Do that a few times a week and it adds up. Nothing ties the payment to a job, and the customer gets no invoice to keep.

Will customers see my business name when they pay?

Yes, and that matters more than it sounds. Think back to the middleman problem: a lead company takes the call, sends the real business to do the work, and collects from the customer. Whoever's name is on the receipt is the one the customer remembers. When your name is on the invoice and the money lands in your account, the customer is yours for the next job too.

How much does it cost to take a card?

Card companies charge a small cut of each payment. There's no way around that, but it's often less than the time you spend going back and forth over texts. Here are Stripe's standard rates, from Stripe's pricing page, checked in October 2026:

How the customer paysStripe's fee
Card, online or through a payment link2.9% + 30¢
Tap to Pay on your phone, in person2.7% + 5¢, plus 10¢ per tap
Card number typed in by handAdd 0.5%
Bank transfer (ACH)0.8%, $5 max
Paid through a Stripe invoiceAdd 0.4%, $2 max per invoice

On a $250 job paid with Tap to Pay, that's $6.90. Paid through a payment link, it's $7.55. Rates change, so check the current page before you decide.

How fast does the money land in my bank?

Stripe pays out to your bank on a regular schedule, usually a couple of business days after each payment. Your very first payout takes longer, often 7 to 14 days, while Stripe checks your account. If you need money sooner, Stripe's Instant Payouts cost 1.5% of the amount, with a 50¢ minimum. Either way, nobody has to remember to send it.

Can I bill the same customer every month?

Yes. If you mow the same lawns, clean the same offices, or service the same equipment every month, you can set up a repeating invoice. It goes out on the same day each month with your business name on it, and the customer can pay with a tap. You stop sending the same text twelve times a year, and you can see at a glance who's paid and who hasn't.

Is this the same as business consulting?

No. OakSerp does not write business plans, find loans, do bookkeeping, or give tax advice. If that is what you need, the East Central Indiana Small Business Development Center offers business advising to the public and is funded in part by the U.S. Small Business Administration. OakSerp handles the part they don't: getting your payment tools set up so money comes in clean.

Questions about getting paid

Do I need a consultant just to take credit cards?

No. You can sign up for Stripe yourself. OakSerp is for owners who want it set up right the first time, with invoices, payment links, and deposits going to the right bank account.

Will this change how I run my business?

No. You do the job the same way you always have. The only thing that changes is how the customer pays at the end.

Can I take a card at the job site with just my phone?

Often, yes. Stripe's free Dashboard app has Tap to Pay on iPhone and Android, so a customer can tap their card or phone on yours with no card reader.

Who owns the payment account?

It should be in your business's name and connected to your own bank account. That way the money and the customer records are yours.

Can I take a deposit before a big job?

Yes. An invoice can ask for part of the total up front and the rest when the job is done.

The rest of OakSerp's services are on the internet marketing service page. A customer has to find you and call you before they can pay you, so it usually makes sense to fix your Google profile first and payments after.
