Google Business Profile Setup in Muncie: Show Up in the Top 3 When Customers Search
Claim it, get it in your name, and fill in every part Google asks for.
OakSerp does Google Business Profile setup in Muncie for local businesses that aren't showing up in the top 3 on Google Maps. If your listing has old information, someone else controls it, or you're not sure you have one at all, call (765) 351-1469. Setup covers your exact categories, 20 to 40 service descriptions, attributes, and photos.
For map searches, your Google profile matters more than your website. It's the first thing people see, and plenty of them call straight from it without ever opening your site. If it's wrong, nothing else you do online can make up for it.

Do I already have a Google Business Profile?
You probably do, even if you never made one. Google builds profiles on its own from public information. Search your business name and "Muncie" on Google Maps. If your business shows up with a link that says "Own this business?", nobody has claimed it yet. That means anyone could suggest changes to it, and you can't answer reviews or fix your hours.
Which situation are you in?
Your profile is in one of these three spots. Each one has a different fix.
Your profile exists, but nobody claimed it
This is the easiest one. Claiming a profile is free, and Google walks you through it in its guide to adding or claiming your Business Profile. After you claim it, Google makes you verify that the business is really yours.
Someone else controls it
An old web person, a past employee, or the last owner of the business set it up, and now you can't get in. You can request ownership through Google. Google emails the current owner, and they have 3 days to answer. If they don't, you may be able to claim it yourself, though Google says that option isn't always offered. OakSerp can walk you through the request and the steps after it.
It's claimed, but out of date
This is the most common one. The profile is yours, but it still has old hours, an old phone number, a category that doesn't fit, or no services listed at all. Google is showing customers a business that doesn't quite exist anymore. This is where most of the setup work happens.
What's included in Google Business Profile setup?
Every part of the profile, in this order:
- Find every Google profile for your business, including duplicates.
- Get the profile into your name, by claiming it or requesting ownership.
- Get through Google's verification.
- Pick the primary category and secondary categories by what your customers actually type.
- Add 20 to 40 services, each with a short description in plain words.
- Answer every attribute Google offers, even the ones where the answer is no.
- Write the business description using all 750 characters.
- Set your service area and hide your address if you work from home or your truck.
- Add photos of your real work, your vehicle, and your team.
- Check that your name, phone number, and website match your site and your other listings.
You'll get a timeline with your quote. Some steps are on Google's clock, not OakSerp's, like verification.
How long does Google take to verify my business?
Google says verification reviews take up to 5 business days. Google also picks how you verify. It can be a phone call or text, an email, a live video call, or a postcard in the mail. If you get a postcard, the code on it expires after 30 days, so don't let it sit in a pile.
What should I show on a video verification call?
Show that the business is real and that it's yours. No storefront? Then show your work truck with your business name on it. Show your tools. Have business paperwork with your name on it ready. Do the call from where you actually work, and plan what you'll show before you start.
Do I have to show my home address?
No. Do you go to your customers? Then Google lets you hide your address and list the towns you serve instead. That's how most tow companies, plumbers, roofers, and cleaners in Delaware County should be set up. Your service area should be the towns you actually drive to, like Muncie, Yorktown, and Anderson, not every city in Indiana.
Why does my business show up twice on Google?
Usually because someone made a second profile instead of claiming the first one, or Google made one after you moved. Google allows one profile per business, and two profiles split your reviews and confuse the map. Keep the one with the right information and your reviews. Get the other one removed or merged through Google. Deleting the wrong one can cost you your reviews, so it's worth doing carefully.
My listing got suspended. Should I just make a new one?
No. A new profile usually makes it worse, because Google sees it as a second listing for the same business. Find out what caused the suspension first. It's often a business name with extra keywords, an address that isn't real, or a category that doesn't fit. Fix that, then ask Google to reinstate the original profile.
Should I add "Muncie" or other keywords to my business name?
No. Google's rules say your profile name should match the name on your truck, your sign, and your paperwork. Adding a city or a sales word breaks those rules and can get the profile suspended. If your legal business name really includes "Muncie," that's fine. If not, leave it out.
What you'll need to have ready
- The email address you want as the owner of the profile.
- Your business name exactly as it appears on your truck, sign, or paperwork.
- The phone number you actually answer.
- A list of the services you offer, and which ones you want more calls for.
- The towns you drive to for work.
- Photos of real jobs. Phone pictures are fine.
- Time to do Google's verification step when it comes up.
Who this isn't for
Lead generation companies, because Google doesn't allow them to have profiles. Businesses that want to show up in towns they don't actually serve. Anyone who wants fake reviews or a keyword-stuffed name. And anyone expecting the top 3 by next week. Fixing a profile that already exists can show changes in a few weeks, but a brand new one takes longer.
What about Bing, Apple Maps, and Yelp?
Your Google profile is the most important listing, but it isn't the only one. Bing, Apple Maps, Yelp, and Facebook all list your business too, and Google notices when they disagree with your profile. If they show an old phone number or a slightly different name, your Google profile looks less trustworthy. That cleanup is its own job, covered on business directory and map listings. Most owners need both.
Questions about Google Business Profiles
Is a Google Business Profile free?
Yes. Google doesn't charge to create or claim a profile. What you'd pay OakSerp for is the setup work, and you get a quote before any work starts.
Who owns my profile after OakSerp sets it up?
You do. The profile goes in your name, not OakSerp's.
Does posting on my Google profile do anything?
Posts show customers you're open and active, and they keep the profile fresh. They won't fix a wrong category or a missing service list, so the setup comes first.
How do I get more Google reviews?
Ask every customer after the job, by text, with a direct link to your review page. Ask them to mention what you did for them. Never pay for reviews or offer a discount for one. Google doesn't allow it.
Can you guarantee I'll be in the top 3?
No, and you should be careful with anyone who does. Google says there's no way to pay for a better local ranking. OakSerp can fix what's wrong on your profile.
The internet marketing service page shows how this profile connects to everything else. Your website, your listings, and your reviews all point back to it, so it's the first thing to fix.
